  In 2011, Gijón will host a truly diverse assortment of international meetings, with themes ranging from nanotechnology to sports to key issues in animal genetics. ISMANAM 2011 (18th International Symposium on Metastable, Amorphous and Nanostructured Materials), an event for which Gijón competed with cities as important as Buenos Aires, Zurich and Moscow, will be attended by over 400 physicists from all over the world.
